Today, our local Member of Parliament, Alec Shelbrooke, welcomed funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to support the Growing Zone.
Alec is a patron of the Growing Zone, a Kippax-based charity which runs a community garden and allotment, providing training placements for young people with learning disabilities in Leeds and distributing food to the homeless.
Alec said: "Over the last few years, it has been heartening to see the work that goes on at the Growing Zone and the support that it provides to local people is truly inspirational. I am pleased that the National Lottery Community Fund has chosen to fund this vital community service, ensuring that they can continue to keep up the good work going forwards."
Since November 2021, the Growing Zone has received £74,601 from the National Lottery. In total, charitable causes across Elmet & Rothwell have benefitted from £84,601.
