On Thursday 3rd February, our local MP, Alec Shelbrooke, led a debate on implementing the recommendations of the Cumberlege Report in Westminster Hall.
First Do No Harm – the Independent Medicines and Medical Devices Safety (IMMDS) Review – was commissioned by the Government in February 2018 and led by Baroness Cumberlege. The review was tasked to consider the impacts of three methods of medical 'interventions' for women - sodium valproate, Primodos and pelvic mesh
For many years, Alec has worked with local representatives, national organisations and across Government to improve the accessibility and standard of healthcare for women.
In Westminster Hall, Alec led a cross-party group of MPs in putting questions to the Minister for Patient Safety and Primary Care, the Rt Hon. Maria Caulfield MP, on raising the quality of care and treatment for affected women going forward.
