Alec was delighted to welcome the Prime Minister, David Cameron, to Brigshaw High School in Allerton Bywater on Thursday 9th June.
This was the Prime Minister’s third visit to Elmet & Rothwell in just over a year, so this time Alec was keen to showcase a great local school in the area. Mr Cameron met staff and pupils during an hour long visit to the school.
A number of Brigshaw’s current and former students enjoyed a lengthy Q&A session with the PM and discussed many opportunities available to them after further education. Mr Cameron also commented on what a pleasure it was to visit the school’s Life Skills department, for pupils with special educational needs.
Alec said “It’s been a real pleasure over the past six years to see the progress that staff and pupils have made in transforming Brigshaw into a good local school. As the son of two teachers, I know the level of professionalism and hard work that teachers put in to equipping our kids with the skills they need to thrive in the working world.
“Going forwards, I’ll be continuing to do whatever I can to help schools in my constituency to improve, as I promised in the Six Point Plan residents re-elected me on last year,”
