On Friday 22nd April Alec spent the night out on the beat with West Yorkshire Police officers to see what they have to deal with on the front line.
Alec said: “It was a great opportunity to meet the committed officers who serve Elmet & Rothwell, as well as those who patrol Leeds City Centre in the early hours. It’s been a while since I’ve been in Leeds at that time of night, but it was encouraging to see the multi-agency schemes in place to deal with those drunk and disorderly.
“Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams in Elmet & Rothwell – based in Garforth, Rothwell and Wetherby – do a great job keeping our streets safe, but this was a good opportunity for me to go out on the beat with officers based at the Leeds Divisional HQ at Elland Road and see how they provide support in our communities”.
