Alec visited Garforth’s new multi-million pound residential home for the elderly last week, praising staff for their commitment to delivering high-quality residential care in the town.
Augustus Court is a brand new care home providing personalised care and support to elderly ladies and gentleman. Under the leadership of experienced Manager Mary Usher the care team is committed to providing the very best levels of personal care and support. Healthcare provider Meridian Healthcare say staff are carefully selected for their kind and caring attitude and their ability to deliver best practice in everything they do for residents and their families.
Alec said “I was delighted to visit Augustus Court ahead of the grand opening in a few months. During my visit a number of potential residents were looking around the home and commented how the facility is a welcome addition to the care home sector in Garforth. This significant investment of over £5million is fantastic for our local economy and the wider community.
“I’ve had a particular interest in specialised care for the elderly since I lost my own grandmother to dementia several years ago, and back in January 2015 I held a Dementia Summit in Garforth to raise awareness of the issues facing senior citizens today. I will continue to fight to make Elmet & Rothwell the UK’s first Dementia-friendly constituency, and to make sure more broadly that elderly people in Leeds get the care and respect that they deserve.”
Accommodation at Augustus Court is of the very highest standard. There is a choice of large bedrooms, some with patio doors that lead out to the gardens. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and fully furnished, with ample space for personal belongings. Each bedroom is en-suite and features a walk-in, ‘wet room’ style shower. For those who prefer a bath, there are also assisted bathing facilities, which are available to all residents.
During his visit Alec was asked to present awards to members of staff who have recently completed induction training at Augustus Court.
