Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, visited Elmet & Rothwell in July and welcomed the news that 1.8 million new apprenticeships have been delivered since the last election.
Alec said: “Here in Elmet & Rothwell we’re benefitting from hundreds of new apprenticeships created since 2010 and in doing so we’re providing skills and employment for our young people. As a former kitchen and bathroom fitter myself, I know that giving somebody a manual skillset means they will be able to turn their hands to most things as they seek to find new jobs and careers later in life.”
George Osborne visited local textile manufacturer, Arville Textiles Ltd, where Alec introduced him to local apprentices.
