Our local MP, Alec Shelbrooke, has welcomed new funding for Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE).
The charitable foundation McCarthy Stone, which aims to support older people across the country, has provided £5000 of funding to allow WiSE to restart its weekly dementia group and memory cafe in Wetherby.
The annual cost of this service is around £18,000, and with £14,000 already raised locally, this funding will provide the additional support needed to keep the project going this year.
Alec said, "I have worked closely with WiSE over the past few years and have seen first hand the fantastic support that they provide to elderly members of my constituency. I am extremely pleased that this extra funding will allow WiSE to continue to provide such an invaluable service".
Alec has published a Dementia Directory for Elmet & Rothwell, accessible here.
