Monday 20th June marks the beginning of Cervical Screening Awareness Week, which aims to encourage discussion around smear testing and to improve the uptake of these life saving tests.
Alec has joined Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust in their efforts to raise awareness of this vital service.
Speaking today, Alec said, "Unfortunately, many women suffering with conditions such as endometriosis are far less likely to access smear testing due to a fear that they will worsen the pain. It is important that events like Cervical Screening Awareness Week are used to raise awareness of smear testing and the support that is available for those who are hesitant to get tested."
