Our local MP, Alec Shelbrooke, has welcomed a new campaign to boost the take up of Pension Credit across Elmet & Rothwell.
There are already 1,773 people in Alec's constituency who have taken up Pension Credit, but more remain eligible for an average of £3,300 a year in extra support.
Take up of Pension Credit is now at its highest level since 2010, but the Government wants to go further and reach the 850,000 eligible people who have not applied - that's around 25% of those who could benefit.
Commenting, Alec said: "It is great news that 1,773 pensioners in Elmet & Rothwell already claim Pension Credit, but it is important for everyone else in our area to claim all the help that they are entitled to. That is why I am supportive of the Government's new campaign to encourage eligible pensions to access this support".
